Identity of Subject Matter
School : SMA Negeri 8 Yogyakarta
Grade/Semester : XI / I
Service Program : SBI
Subject : Biology
Topic : Plant Life System
Time Allocation : 15 Minutes
Standard of Competence
Understanding relevance between structure and function of plant and animal tissue, and their aplication in context of science, environment, technology, and society
Basic Competence
Identify structure of plant tissue and their relevance with the function, explain the characteristic of totipotential as base of tissue culture.
Indicator to Achieve the Competence
1. Draw graphically anatomy structure of root tissue to dicotyle and monocotyle plant
2. Identify the differences anatomy structure between root tissue of dicotyle and monocotyle plant
Learning Objectives
1. Student are able to draw graphically anatomy structure of root tissue of dicotyle and monocotyle plant
2. Student are able to identify the anatomy structure differences between root tissue of dicotyle and monocotyle plant
Teaching Materials
Root Anatomy on Monocotyle and Dicotyle
Plant | Root Anatomy | Explanation |
Monocotyle | | 1. Epidermis (On mature root called periderm) 2. Root Cortex 3. Vascular Tissue 4. Pith 5. Xylem 6. Phloem Note : Vaskular tissue of xylem and phloem are arranged in one radial layer |
Dicotyle | | 1. Epidermis (On mature root called periderm) 2. Root Cortex 3. Endodermis 4. Pericycle 5. Xylem 6. Phloem 7. Vascular Tissue Note : The xylem criss-crosses with the phloem |
Anatomy Structure Differences between root tissue of dicotyle and monocotyle plant
No | Name of Tissue | Characteristic in Monocotyle | Characteristic in Dicotyle |
1 | Vascular Tissue | xylem and phloem are arranged in one concentric layer | xylem criss-crosses with the phloem (radial) |
2 | Cambium | Not Present | Present |

Approach and Methods
Approach : Inductive
Methods : Observation & Discussions
Teaching and Learning Process
Time Allocation : 15 Minutes
Teaching and Learning Process | Time (Minutes) | Life Skills Aspects that Developed |
Pre-Teaching 1. Greeting and Asking Students Condition 2. Recall matery about differences of root between dycotyle and monocotyle plant 3. Stating the Topic and Objectives | 2
While Teaching 1. Students make 2 group (each groups consists of 3-4 students) 2. Each group have observation and discussion based on student worksheet 3. Teacher guide student to report of observation and discussion result 4. Teacher give confirmation | 8 | 1. Observe Biology Object 2. Analyses 3. Braveness |
Post Teaching 1. Teacher make conclusion from discussions result 2. Teacher evaluate with give question about differences of anatomy structure between root tissue of dicotyle and monocotyle plant 3. Giving assignment to search picture of anatomy structure of dicotyle and monocotyle other plant | 5
